There are numerous ways to get free MLM (aka network marketing) leads. However, the secret to building a successful business with free leads is to find sources of leads that are both qualified and highly responsive. Otherwise, you could just start cold calling using your local white pages. The techniques discussed below can be used to generate the kinds of leads that will let you consistently recruit people into your primary business, if you learn to use them properly and you apply them consistently.
There are several free online techniques that can generate highly targeted and responsive leads. The common element here is that none of these techniques should be used to spam people or to flood them with your marketing message. Instead, create relationships and offer value. It’s pull rather than push marketing. You want to pull to you the kinds of people who are already interested in what you have to offer and who want to want work you.
Online Social Networking
You can add dozens of people a day to your network using sites like Facebook and MySpace. My best advice here is to watch how everyone else misuses these sites and do something else! Again, it’s about establishing relationships and creating value, not about sending a constant barrage of poorly thought out and delivered marketing messages.
Take your time to get to know the people in your network. Comment on their posts. Use your own posts to give your network a glimpse of who you are and what you’re all about. Let them get to know you, warts and all. In so doing, you’ll begin to attract people like you, people with whom you’d like to do business. And the folks who don’t like you will simply not become engaged in the discussion, or may even remove you from their friends list. That’s OK, you weren’t going to have a meaningful relationship, either personal or professional, anyway.
The important thing is to provide value to your friends. If your posts are 90% valuable content and 10% marketing, you won’t offend anyone. But your first focus should be on providing value and building relationships.
YouTube
If you only use YouTube for posting videos, you’re missing a bet. YouTube is fast becoming one of the most popular social networking sites on the internet. The same rules apply, provide value and build relationships. I mention it separately only because so many people don’t recognize YouTube’s potential as a networking site.
Forums
Join several forums related to your business and participate in the discussions. Focus on adding value and let your signature line do the marketing for you.
Content Marketing
Create quality, original content using blogs, articles, and video and put it in places online where people who may be interested in what you do can find it. Each of these media have their own special rules and strategies, but you can never go wrong by sticking to the basics: provide value and build relationships.
