Free Network Marketing Leads: Is Your Twitter Marketing Costing You Leads?

Amidst all of the social networking sites, Twitter is perhaps one of the most often overlooked and effective sources for branding yourself and generating free network marketing leads. Unfortunately, it is equally effective in branding you in either a positive or a negative vein. One will help your business. The other could destroy it.

Stop the Barrage
As with most marketing, it’s always a good idea to see how most of the other network marketers are using Twitter … and then do almost anything else. A constant barrage of ads and marketing messages is a sure way to get yourself branded as a pest with little or nothing of value to offer. Imagine a radio station that did nothing but broadcast 1000s of simultaneous commericals all day long. How long would you stay tuned in?
Add Value
Don’t tweet with the idea of getting leads or distributors into your business. Tweet with the idea of adding something of value to the conversation. Who are your ideal leads and what are they looking for? (Hint: It has nothing to do with your company, your products, or your comp plan.)

Provide information that will help them solve their current challenges and achieve their goals. And do it purely to contribute with no expectation of getting anything back in return.

Not only will people want to follow you, you’ll be branding yourself as the kind of leader to whom people gravitate.

4:1 Ratio
So, if you’re just out there giving away useful information, how do you ever sell anybody anything or recruit them into your business? Believe it or not, if you provide enough value, they’ll come to you begging to sign up.

It’s also OK to advertise a little. No one is going to object if after every four messages that add value, you send an ad. It’s even better if you can solve problems in your ad message. What if, for example, you could point someone to a post on your blog where there also happened to be a form for opting into your email list?

Use your imagination a little, think like your prospect, and you might be surprised to find that you’re getting several free leads a day from your Twitter account.
