Your Network Marketing List: Quickstart Method

Anyone engaged in internet network marketing recognizes the importance of developing an opt-in list of subscribers to your blog or sales funnel. Developing a list and creating a relationship with your subscribers creates a database of prospects that you can sell to forever – or at least until they opt out of your list.

Newbie Challenges

Unfortunately, those new to internet marketing are often forced to delay creating a list while they learn all about lead capture pages, sales pages, autoresponders, and all of the other tools associated with list creation and management. In some cases, the amount of information, and the sheer volume of conflicting guidance can result in near total paralysis, increasing the delay far beyond the amount of time it should take for the new marketer to get into action (and into positive cash flow).

Quickstarting Your List

There is a simple way for even the newest internet network marketer to get started building a list literally their first day in business. (Your sponsor should be able to help with this. If not, find someone who can.)

The quickest way to get started building a list is to sign up for an autoresponder service from a reliable provider such as Aweber, GetResponse, iContact, and several others. Create a list or campaign, whichever your autoresponder calls them. Think of this as essentially a database of prospects that have opted-in and are waiting to hear from you.

Once your autoresponder is set up, start writing keyword-based articles and submitting them to articles directories such as this one. The trick is this: Instead of linking from your resource box to your lead capture page (you don’t have one of those yet, remember?), you can simply instruct people who want more information to send an email to your autoresponder. The email address will generally be in the form of yourlistname @ autorespondercompany.com. This will automatically subscribe that person to your list.

Provide Value

When creating a lead capture page, it is expected that you will provide something of value in exchange for the prospect’s contact information. The same is true here. The difference is that you’ve already provided something of value in the form of your article. That, plus the promise of more to come should be enough to convince people to opt in.

Autoresponder Messages

In the short term, don’t worry about creating 50 and 100 message campaigns. (Campaigns send a pre-written set of messages automatically on a pre-set schedule starting from when the person opts into your list.) Instead use the broadcast feature to manually send an individual message once or twice a week. Remember, the secret is to provide value. Initially, you can simply share the most important thing you learned about your business since your last message. Don’t worry if what you’ve learned seems to simple or obvious to write about. Realize that if you had to learn it, so did everyone who is ahead of you and so will everyone who follows you.

Write the message in a way to make it timeless and you can use it later in a campaign. That way, if your sending two messages a week, in ten weeks you will have a 20-message set to paste into your autoresponder.
